Build and Kill Zombies Crossbow: How It Works and How to Mount It

How to use the Crossbow in Build and Kill Zombies: what its ranged shot does, how to roll for it at its dedicated station, and how to mount it for clear line of sight.

The Crossbow in Build and Kill Zombies is a ranged weapon that fires its shot before zombies make contact with your build. Unlike contact weapons, it needs a forward-facing mount with a clear line of sight past the chassis edge to work at all. It is acquired by rolling at its own dedicated Crossbow station.

How to obtain the Crossbow

Parts in Build and Kill Zombies are rolled for, one category at a time, using cash brought back from your last run. Prices scale hard with usefulness — a Glass Cylinder sits at $15, while a Shredder, also Uncommon, costs $250. Individual items have their own dedicated roll stations too, including a Crossbow station and a Glass Cylinder station, so you can target one piece instead of gambling on the whole category. In short: roll the Crossbow station rather than relying on the general CAR PARTS machine. Roll odds for the Crossbow station aren't published by the game.

Line-of-sight and mounting guidance

Because the Crossbow fires before contact, its placement rule differs from contact weapons like the Shredder or Glass Cylinder. The documented requirement is a forward-facing mount with clear line of sight past the chassis edge — the crossbow must be able to "see" past your own car to shoot zombies before they touch the build.

Weapon placement in this game is unforgiving in general: a mount fitted to the roof or rear may never touch a zombie, which reads as a broken weapon rather than a bad build. For the Crossbow, an obstructed line of sight produces the same broken-weapon symptom — so if the weapon appears not to fire, check what's blocking its forward view before rebuilding anything else.

No rarity tier, damage value, fire rate, or price has been published for the Crossbow; its wiki entry lists "Dedicated station" in the category column rather than a rarity label, and all Crossbow details here come from third-party guides, so recheck in-game before spending.
