Build and Kill Zombies Rarities: Rarity Bands and Roll Odds

A compact reference to Build and Kill Zombies rarity bands, the two documented part odds (Small Engine 1 in 3, Shredder 1 in 12), how result cards display odds, and how luck affects rolls.

Build and Kill Zombies rolls use five rarity bands — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary — and every roll result card shows the odds of what you just rolled. Only two exact odds are documented outside the game itself: the Small Engine (Vehicle tab, Common) at 1 in 3 and the Shredder (Weapons tab, Uncommon) at 1 in 12. Everything else should be read from the result card in-game, since precise per-item drop rates are not published beyond what it displays.

What each rarity band typically yields

Rarity bandWhat it typically yieldsWhere it comes fromDoes luck help
CommonBaseline blocks, wheels and fuels that fill out a starter carBoth machines, most frequent outcomeMarginal — this is the floor, not the target
RareStronger engines, wheels and weapon mounts that carry a mid-game runBoth machines once standard parts are coveredYes — the main target of Luck I and Luck II
EpicHigh-tier parts worth rebuilding a blueprint aroundBoth machines, infrequentYes — where stacked luck and boosts matter most
LegendaryThe rarest rolls in the game, the reason luck stacking existsBoth machines, the lowest odds shown on the result cardYes — the band every luck upgrade is aimed at

The wiki's band table lists Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary; the Uncommon band is known from its parts rather than a table row, with confirmed examples including the Shredder (spiked roller) and Glass Cylinder (contact-damage bumper). If a band row or odds value looks different when you check in-game, trust the current result card.

These are the only two per-part figures documented; expect balance changes since the game launched August 19, 2026, and re-check the result card for current values.

How displayed odds work

Pressing Q picks a category, CONFIRM locks it, and E rolls, showing rarity plus odds on the result. As the wiki puts it, "Drop odds are displayed on every result, which removes most of the guesswork about whether a band is realistically reachable." Higher luck does not change what a part does — it only shifts how often the rarer entries show up when you roll. Luck improvements apply to both roll machines at once, and boosts (Luck I/II, 2x, 4x, Server Luck) shift band frequency but never guarantee an outcome.

Rarity is not the same as value

Rarity alone doesn't decide what's worth chasing: as the tier-list criteria note, "a common fuel part that extends runs is worth more than a rare weapon you cannot mount." The Uncommon band illustrates this — parts like the Shredder and Glass Cylinder are cheap enough to fit on run one, making them practical early targets even though higher bands exist.
